- Fanartica -
So besides keeping busy with a bunch of gallery shows coming up, half the reason this blog has been slipping is because my attention has been turned to *gasp* TUMBLR. My art buds and I have been posting all sorts of fan art goodies. The topic changes every two weeks, so it's a good refresh if I can think of something to draw.
The topics so far have been:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
90's Nickelodeon TV
"Legends of the Hidden Temple"
"The Adventures of Pete and Pete"
"Roundhouse"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wes Anderson meets Studio Ghibli
"Steve Zissou explores the diet of his new discovery"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Classic Novels
"Bram Stoker's Dracula"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to check out what the others are doing, head on over to FANARTICA!
The next topic is "Adventure Time" to celebrate the release of Season one on DVD. So this should be a fun two weeks worth of postings.
See ya next time -

Roose
The word apparently means "praise". This was what the random word generator picked for us this time on Creative Juices. Kinda random.. but it made for a fun scene! I really wanted to put a lot of emotion into that little guy, he's really proud of himself for freeing that tiny weirdo fly. haha

On another note- if you've found yourself on G+ and looking for people to follow, feel free to add me. I've been finding myself going that route more than twitter lately. Plus there are TONS of industry folk on there. Here is my page --------> click me

Expecto Patronum

I decided to take a break from Lord of the Rings and take a bit of inspiration from Gallery Nucleus to conjure up my latest piece. Nothing like a Dementor's kiss to get your gears revved up at night. hahah
I always loved how creepy these guys were in both, the movie & book, so it was super fun to make them in my own illustration. I was going to show Sirius Black as well, but it definitely took away from the connection between Harry and the Dementor.
Enjoy!

The making of a Hobbit
Since I don't post many sketches, I figured I'd show you all some process video. This is about 26 minutes shrunk down to 4. You may notice that this particular Hobbit is next to Frodo... so one can only assume who he is. hehe

MoCCA ! a tiny recap
Hey Everyone, Renee and I just made it home from MoCCA. We saw a lot of great stuff and got to meet some really cool people. I'll just share with you a snapshot of some of the killer loot we scored.
Bob and Dan at the Heeby Jeeby table
Scott C drawing a stapler dude, me staring. haha
Nathan Stapley painting away. He was doing 1$ portraits allll freaking day. It was intense and also amazing. Thanks again, man!
Here is mine (he intentionally made me look like the kid from little house on the prairie, really... haha)
Renee's
All the loot. From left to right, Dan Moynihan, "Secret Prison"comics newspaper, John Martz, The Anthology Project, Nathan Stapley portraits, Scott C coasters, Jannie Ho, Corinne Mucha, Jerel Dye, Emily Carroll
There was SO much more art we wanted to buy, but you gotta stop at some point.
Volume 1 of the "The Anthology Project" I highly recommend these books to EVERYONE. It's a fantastic collection. Renee and I had to buy both immediately.
Renee and I had the pleasure of meeting Sam Bradley, Joy Ang (who did the mind melting cover for volume 1) and Katie Shanahan at The Anthology Project booth.
Scott C made some kick ass coasters from his "Great Showdowns" series. Anyone who is not familiar with Scott's work, please, click the link. So so funny. He has such a great sense of humor, and he's an all around cool dude. I asked him to sign my coaster, we both agreed that a stapler dude would be fitting for the Office Space showdown.
John Martz came down from Canada to say hi to us American folk. Really funny guy. I picked up his comic "Heaven All Day".
So that's about it, hope you enjoyed this little sneak peak.

WTD "handrail"

The word for this week was "handrail"?? Kind of a weird word to use, but hey, whatever. It did noodle my brain to think of something, another good creative exercise.
Here is the rest of the bunch this week. ----> link
